Fall is fast approaching. The sun is losing its intensity, ever so slightly. Clouds take up a bit more real estate in the sky. The mountains are starting to look ominous and the 'smells' are out of control. Santa Fe is, hands down, the best smelling town...ever: wild lavender and mountain sage, burning pinon in kiva fireplaces and the ubiquitous roasting green chiles.
Enamored with the mere suggestion of a change to a far cooler season, we bought our first bit of firewood. About to spring for a cord, the thermometer suggested we wait just a while longer. Although we've had temperatures in the 60's the past week and a half, the mercury still reaches for the mid/high 70's on most days with evenings dipping into the 40's. Funny enough, the first night we decided to have a fire, we had to open the front door and living room window because it was just too dang hot. Overzealous? No! Preparedly awaiting a respite from the insane heat of summer in the desert.
Meanwhile, life keeps unfolding. Between school and work and "free" freelance graphic design, Keenan has been quite the busy bee. Atty and I, on the other hand, seem to be on perpetual vacation. I decided to take a break from my quest to conquer pre reqs for a master's in occupational therapy. I'm taking this time to *really* figure some stuff out, like "what I want to be when I grow up.....errrr, when Atty grows up." I'm going to do some more volunteering/shadowing. Maybe put my dusty massage license to use. Maybe I'll start taking pictures again, bake bread, water the garden, build terrariums. But, I'm definitely going to hang with my girl and I'm not going to take a moment of her marvelous life for granted.
We're gonna play Play-Doh until a thousand colors become one and it all turns hard as a rock. We're gonna read Cat in the Hat for the 50 zillionth time and we are definitely gonna have a dance party everyday, as per her request. She'll be by my side when I cook, clean and when I'm downward dog, she'll be there, right there under a bent version of me. That's just the way we roll. And when Keenan walks through the door from school/work or when the office door finally opens because a day of work is done, oh boy, look out! Every word in Atty's vocabulary (of which there are MANY!), will rush to the tip of her tongue to unleash the happenings of the day, the hour the minute to her beloved Daddy-O! Sometimes "daddy" and on a rare occasion "dad," but most often Keenan is Daddy-O and our fingers are crossed it will stay that way.
And that's life right now. We are still trying to figure out the in-betweens and carve our path, but we're busy living and daydreaming our biggest and best dreams, together.
Looooove these pics!! Miss you guys so much!
